We had a bitter sweet weekend in our family. Friday we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa as they were leaving for Hawaii on Saturday. They promised to bring the girls back Sea Shells, and Brinkley is excited and also very specific that she would like a pink and yellow one. Anyway, we hope they have a great time basking in the sun... especially since it's raining here today. Saturday we spent raking dirt in our yard trying to get things leveled out a little so that we can do sprinklers and grass. The Tractor was a lot of fun, but left big tire ruts that we had to smooth out.
Saturday night Jess called the family about 10:30pm because she couldn't find Shawn. He hadn't checked in for about 6 hours and she was really getting worried. He wasn't answering his cell or anything. To make a long story short we were on our way to look for him or start calling Hospitals when he finally checked in and had been at the mall looking for Mother's day gifts. Sometimes being a grown up stinks because you know of so many more terrible possibilities out there and you just start praying that none of those will come to pass. I was just so happy he was ok... and then I wanted to ring his neck. We found out yesterday that the same night we were worried for Shawn's well being, our good friend Tyler Wilde was killed in a motorcycle accident. We love their family like we were cousins more than friends and our hearts are breaking for their family. Even more unnerving is that the accident happened only blocks from my house and I didn't even know about it.
On the sweeter side of the weekend we had a happy Mother's Day. Tom and the girls gave me a new video camera which I was so excited to get. We had Tom's Parents over for dinner which was very nice.
We ended the weekend with the finally of Survivor. We were so disappointed to hear that Parvati won the million... But we were happy to realize that now we will gain an hour a week of our life back :).
Tom and Emily- Hey! Heather gave us your blog address. This blogging thing is really taking off huh? I guess it is a good way to keep in contact or at least peek into other people's lives. You guys seem like you are doing well (except for that last bad weekend- sorry). We would love to see a picture of your house.
